VAT Community
“Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships.” this is what Michael Jordan already said. With Virtual Agile Training we want to enable teams to achieve championships. This requires a creative, dynamic and strong community to develop new ideas, test games and continuously improve them.
As community of Virtual Agile Training, we want to support as many teams and coaches as possible. We will therefore gradually publish all game instructions and materials under a Creative Commons license.

Contact usBuild A House
In this world, you and your team can experience the effects of SCRUM up close. Your task is to build a house according to the increasingly complex user stories that describe functionalities. You have four iterations to do this. Each iteration consists of a planning, a construction phase and a retrospective. In this way, you can further develope your collaboration and your output and experience how you can improve as a team.
STRUCTURE AND CONTENTS OF THE WORLD
You will find a total of 4 building sites in this world. So you can do the exercise with 4 teams. There are boxes with all the necessary building materials on each building site. The user stories are stored on a Trello or Miro board in the backlog and can be dragged into “doing” by the product owner.
LEARNING GOALS
– Why and when does should we use SCRUM?
– How is the team communicating during an interation?
– Is the communication different in a virtual surrounding?
– How does the team distribute work tasks?
– How can we improve our quality with planning and retrospectives?
TIME IN MINECRAFT
Including introduction & testing of the work steps, we recommend planning 1.5 – 2 hours for this exercise.
FURTHER AREAS OF APPLICATION
– Test the meaningfulness of retrospectives
– Take advantage of the division of labor
– Try working together in stressful situations
Cube Production
In this world you can test different project management methods with your team. The goal of the game is to recreate randomly selected color mosaics as often as possible using division of labor. In the first iteration, you finish building each mosaic individually until you start the next. In the following rounds you work progressively in parallel to experience the extent to which different approaches influence the efficiency and quality of your work.
STRUCTURE AND CONTENT
In total, you will find 4 production lines for 4 teams in this world. Each team with up to 4 members orientates on the differently colored floor coverings. The boxes are sufficiently filled with the necessary building blocks for all rounds.
LEARNING GOALS
– When should which project management method be used?
– What changes with each method for the team?
– Which approach is better for the company?
– With which approach does the team feel the most comfortable?
TIME IN MINECRAFT
Including an introduction and test of the work steps, we recommend that you schedule 1 – 1.5 hours for this exercise.
FURTHER AREAS OF APPLICATION
– Questioning naturalized processes
– Working together in stressful situations
Rapid Prototyping
Project Management like Design Thinking and First Principle Thinking, are best used if the requirements and methods are very uncertain. In those scenarios you need a close connection to your customers. This world offers you the opportunity to build and experience virtual prototypes and to receive feedback from your customers. As a standard we offer blocks that fit the project “the perfect garden”. The blocks can be replaced to fit an other project like opimising processes in your organisation.
STRUCTURE AND CONTENT
In total there are 4 areas for 4 groups in this world, which can be built individually. By default, you will find boxes in the world that contain blocks related to the “garden” theme.
LEARNING GOALS
– How do I build a prototype as quickly as possible?
– How detailed does it have to be?
– What are the advantages of being able to “touch” a prototype and move around in it?
TIME IN MINECRAFT
Including an introduction and test of the work steps, we recommend that you schedule 1 – 1.5 hours for this exercise.
FURTHER AREAS OF APPLICATION
– Process modelling with prototyping
Donut Factory
In this world you can test the effectiveness and principles of various project management methods with your team. Initially, the game is set up that you first explain and explain the individual work steps to the participants in the test production. In round 1 you simulate a production after push without a work in progress limit (WIP): “The more input, the more output / turnover”.
In the 2nd round you introduce a WIP limit of 1 and work according to the pull principle. After finishing the game, we recommend an intensive review with the participants, taking into account various scenarios in the company (e.g. change in requirements, forecast accuracy, stability of the system).
STRUCTURE AND CONTENT
In total you will find 4 test and 8 production lines in this world. With 4 teams you can simulate a test and 2 runs to simulate and compare “conventional work” with “working with Kanban”. Each team orientates on the differently colored floor coverings. The boxes are sufficiently filled with the necessary building blocks for both rounds.
LEARNING GOALS
– Why and when should you use Kanban?
– What changes for the team when we are using Kanban?
– Which approach is better for the company?
– With which approach does the team feel more comfortable?
TIME IN MINECRAFT
Including an introduction and test of the work steps, we recommend that you schedule 1 – 1.5 hours for this exercise.
FURTHER AREAS OF APPLICATION
– Test the meaningfulness of retrospectives
– Try working together in stressful situations

We regularly offer Let’s Play events, which are basically free of charge.
It lasts about 2 hours and offers valuable insights into training in the Metaverse and a great experience.
However, there is a charge for the Minecraft app. Booking is done via eventbrite.
